About this deal

Throughout Invincible’s run, Image Comics published a range of spin-off comics. These feature many of the comic’s large cast of characters and expand the world that’s established in the main series. This is the beginning of the Invincible saga, and I guarantee once you start reading, you won't stop. (Though fair warning, it's a hefty bit of reading; as I write this, they're at 130+ single issues, or 21 standard-sized trades.) Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this. What started as a bit of a goofy cross between spiderman and Superman/boy, turned into a totally engaging story with clever characters unabashedly exploring a pretty wide range of comic tropes. This is a ridiculously huge book. If you held it up to shoulder height and dropped it, it would probably trigger seismometers on the other side of the globe. Probably destroy any furniture between it and the floor, too. The floor as well. What I'm saying is, an ereader won't give you the full experience for this one. King Lizard: The leader of the Lizard League who is an expert strategist and an expert at hand-to-hand combat. King Lizard is the only member of the Lizard League to currently be alive. Hellboy Oddest Jobs (Prose Novel) Indy Jones Adventures #1 (On-Going) Indy Jones Kingdom of Skulls #1 (2 Issues) Firebreather (ONolan Grayson: Mark's father, Debbie's husband, and formerly the greatest superhero of Earth known as Omni-Man. A fun little twist on the superhero book. Figured I'd re-read this before the show drops on prime and still love it. Need to get the other compendiums but the characters are fun, and it shows the struggles of being an on-call superhero while trying to to go school and maintain relationships.

Invincible isn’t like any teen superhero comic you’ve read before. It follows newbie hero, Mark Grayson, as he tries to follow in the footsteps of his father Omni-Man, the world’s greatest hero. Through this premise, the comic explores Mark’s daddy-issues and the toll of increasingly violent superhero battles. D.A. Sinclair: A young and reclusive scientist at Upstate University, is the creator of the "Reanimen", who is hired by Cecil to build Reanimen out of the corpses of extra-dimensional Invincibles. Invincible (Compendium One) is a grounded, vivid, and at times graphically violent young adult’s coming-of-age story that juggles the young hero’s everyday life with superhero duties requiring him to save the world. The comic tells the story of a teenage boy named Mark Grayson. It is a similar coming of age type of story to that of Spider-man. He is half Korean and half Viltrumite on his father’s side, which causes him to inherit his fathers superpowers. The series follows him balancing school and his new powers with help from his Father, Omni Man. Omni Man is kind of similar to Superman he can fly, has super strength and he’s indestructible. One thing I noticed throughout reading this book is it pokes fun at Marvel/DC and some characters almost feel like Walmart versions of those franchises. In this series there are people known as Guardians of the Globe who are similar to the Avengers/Justice League. There’s even a character named Red Rush who looks like the Flash. And Darknight who reminded me of Batman. Aside from the superhero parodies I thought it was a really fun read. If you continue on in the series you’ll find it’s really unique and has it’s own plot line to tell despite all the parodies. Especially if you read until the twist ending. It was engaging and I love a good superhero/coming of age style story. It’s probably why I like Spider-man and Superman: Son of Kal-El so much.

Mark Grayson is a normal high school senior with a normal part-time job whose father, Nolan Grayson, is the extraterrestrial of the planet Viltrum (with humanoid forms similar to Kryptonians) Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet. At age seventeen, Mark begins to display superpowers, which come from his father being a member of the Viltrumite race, who, according to Nolan, pioneer the entire cosmos on a mission of benevolence and enlightenment.
