About this deal

On the other hand, if you want to be critical ‘Road To Eden’ might be slightly heavier but the band remains safely within their own musical boundaries. There are the very tangible and calm moments, like ‘Lovers and Friends’, the anthemic songs like ‘Cradle to the Grave’ with some Irish influences and there are the rocking moments. Fire Never Fades” looks back on childhood, and the title track seems to underline the journey through life, but its sheer scope and size is impressive. Cradle to the Grave’ has a feel of UK to the opening guitar line and a blue sky vocal that sits atop a song full of good memories and nostalgia, it’s a song about being grateful for what you have and plays out wonderfully.

On 8 October an initial date for 2022 was announced (Chester Live Rooms; 4 March), with additional dates to follow.

And if the luminous final solo of 'Thy Kingdom Come' with its masterful rise in intensity and its assumed Celtic pride finishes dazzling us, it also installs in us the melancholy of a journey that ends when we would have liked to see it go on and on. Their most recent album was originally due to be released in 2019, although this was later delayed, with Road to Eden announced by the band in January 2022. Road to Eden’ is a safe ride on a beautiful musical road, an album for a ride into the sunset on a warm summer day with the evening breeze blowing through your hair.

The best thing about the album is that it is entirely comfortable not to be Avant Garde and instead concentrate on the sound that the band has always had.

Road To Eden’ opens in superb fashion with ‘Born In The Storm’ and releasing it as the lead off single makes a real statement as it boasts a strong riff and vintage solo from Vinny Burns and is pitched in musical terms somewhere between the first two albums. Rewind to 2010 and the Welsh-born trio of Tom Hollister, Chris Buck and Adam Roberts were riding a wave of hype, hotly-tipped by some of the biggest names in rock - most notably Steve Winwood who invited the band to record at his storied Wincraft Studios.

Actually it is easily the rockiest number on show and ‘Cradle To The Grave’ is more mid tempo with a very celtic backing even in the guitar solo while the tastefulness of the guitar melodies carry ‘Fire Never Fades’ .Wharton sings of youth and how life can chip away at your dreams, while Burns rips out his finest, and longest solo, tangled and twisted ever roaring in defiance as vocal refrains repeat in ascension, the rhythm section beating down hard underneath to reinforce the message as a final guitar solo takes the record to its conclusion. Straddling their native Ireland and their adopted Wales, the quintet is proud of its origins and regularly lifts us off the ground to fly over the green rolling spaces of the British Isles. The band continued to tour into 2018 and by September that year had played venues such as Hard Rock Heaven (UK), Row Club (Athens, Greece), and Melodic Rock Festival (Sweden).
