At one point in the novel Hughes tells Plath that life has a mission for everyone and that his mission is freedom. An actor, director and playwright, he has been working in theatre for thirty years, and has yet to have a performing arts venue named after him, or indeed win any major award.Indeed, there’s such fiery confidence here, such cleanness – something of the cleanness of Plath’s own poems – that it doesn’t necessarily matter that it’s about Plath. A quote I enjoyed was “There are times when I wanted the worst for you, Hoping you would understand The roots of my thoughts. Más que poemas son pensamientos fraccionados, que en ocasiones se leen como tuits y en ocasiones como tarjetas Hallmark. He graduated from William Paterson University with a double major in History and Secondary Education in 2019. It is not just the story of Ashima Lahiri (Aashi); it is the story of every other young woman striving to balance ambition, job and marriage.

At first I felt this book was a little slow paced and simple, but sticking with it showed me how amazing it was. Anyways, there is context missing for this scenario, and I have tweaked the lines a bit before posting so there wouldn't be any spoilers, but yeah just remember that even if you relate to the feelings in this poem, this dude. She was stuck in the past, Thinking about all the memories that she held of him, Only to know that he wasn't there anymore. But Cullhed’s Plath has committed to a life with this man partly because she was seduced by his vision of freedom. Like an album of photographic negatives, this book is transformed by light, inhabited by family, illness, mortality, and faith. I recommend to all those interested in this new style of poetry, which is written in few lines but resonates and relates deeply to many situations today. Maybe they enter someone else’s mind, or land in a pile of prayers, that mercilessly stack in front of God.

from start to finish, miss charlotte has held me captive in her beautifully written book- like truly, the writing is just so poetic and dreamy and romantic and i felt like every page had something worth highlighting. And I think Cullhed succeeds in creating a book for our times, translated into English with just the right mixture of casualness and lyricism by Jennifer Hayashida; this isn’t yet another dissection of a time long past.

Effectively Cullhed tries to do in more capacious, domestic and worldly form what Plath succeeded so spectacularly in doing in her final poems – writing all the pleasure and pain of maternal and sexual love in a world at once ordinary (baking, gardening, sleeping children) and feverishly charged. I long for the day I wake up to your wholesome eyes, and the ripeness that comes with you after a long night.
