While the anime adaptation does follow the plot of the manga, you might notice the first few episodes have a bit more fanservice than the manga does, which I personally dislike but it's not that bad and all in all I love both the manga and the anime. Despite this, Miko does her best to ignore the existence of ghosts and tries to live out a normal high school life.

However, even though she pretends they do not exist, she can still see how they disturb the people around her, especially her best friend, the energetic and lovely Hana Yurikawa. Miko finds it increasingly difficult to focus on class due to the large female ghost haunting Zen warning everyone not to look at him.Still, most readers will be eager to learn more about Mieruko's daily happenings, to see why these monsters are visible solely by her, and to discover whether she'll ever be able to experience a normal life. Kaina of the Great Snow Sea was the latest televised collaboration between manga author Tsutomu Nihei and CG animation studio Polygon Pictures. Kinda like Ichigo, but these r more like Zombie looking, nightmare hunting, gruesome type of ghosts. In a book that's much more comedy than horror, the creatures are genuinely grotesque; while the story may be funny for readers, it's no laughing matter for poor Mieruko. Taking advantage of this, Yuria suggests that they go to a scenic spot in the mountains for a photo shoot.

Mieruko-chan ( 見える子ちゃん, "The Girl Who Can See Them") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tomoki Izumi. Hana heads out to meet Miko, not knowing the same ghost is haunting her, using her life force aura to cook and eat smaller ghosts. That's someone who can lay u down easily cause dude got serious hands, but somehow he couldn't stand horror movies. It implies that Izumi may have been leaning on it as a means to grab male readers’ attention before calming down. From the panel I saved on my IG I expected something along those series mentioned above, cause the art sort of depicted that. Miko ends up with a much better mood after being able to let out her feelings of fear in a moment of catharsis.

Miko sees something really disturbing, and comedy is derived from the fact that she strains to act normal while no one else even notices anything. Cause while 37 chapters into the series, we have yet to get explanation to why she sees ghosts and see her helping them as well. On the train home, Miko sees an axe wielding ghost attacking the passengers on the train, though its axe passes through them harmlessly.Zen Tohno ( 遠野 善, Tōno Zen) Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura [4] (Japanese); David Matranga [5] (English) A teacher who temporarily replaces Miko and Hana's homeroom teacher after she went on parental leave. Miko is cursed to see the ghouls that haunt every single space, public and private, but that remain invisible to almost everyone going about their daily lives. The previous chapter kinda had some add extra focus on the trees in that flashback scene and there's a line in this one saying they sometimes appeared as insects.

Another flashback shows a young Zen secretly adopting a stray kitten, only for his mother to find out and kill it, further traumatizing him. These ghosts have monstrous designs: hollowed-out faces, elongated necks, empty eyes, distended bodies, harrowing expressions, and so much more. To be honest, the summary made me think that this was more or less a girl Natsume (as in book of friends). Despite being completely terrified, Miko carries on with her daily life, pretending not to notice the horrors that surround her. Miko Yotsuya's eyes water as she fixates on a single spot on her phone—she ignores yet another dreadful, horrific monster that is in her face, uttering the disturbing words: "Can you see me?On December 10, 2021, Funimation announced the series would receive an English dub, which premiered on December 12. It's revealed that Yuria can also see ghosts since she was young and dreams of becoming a fortuneteller and an exorcist herself. Kadokawa Shoten began publishing the series in print in April 2019 and have released nine tankōbon volumes as of May 2023. The first man (the potential cat-killer) comes back around later in the story, in a very clever way.
