They sound very flat and detailed, with no harshness at all. When recording with them you will be able to capture the true essence of the instruments. The frequency response is given as 40Hz-20kHz, and this tallies with the enclosed graph. There's a gentle presence peak centred at around 8kHz, which usually helps a mic sound airy without it becoming hard or edgy, below which the response is generally flat until the low end starts to roll off gently below 100Hz or so reaching -3dB at about 50Hz. The maximum SPL is a hefty 134dB, so drum kits and guitar amps aren't going to intimidate this mic, but at the same time you'll get plenty of signal from an acoustic guitar or other instrument of similar sound level. Overall the dynamic range is 112dB and there are no pad or roll-off switches on the mic. Studio Tests The Rode M5 is the industry standard in terms of affordable matched pairs, they are of extreme quality, sound very nice, and should last you forever. Neewer NW-410 Features multiple capsules with different polar patterns! Neewer NW-410

Lastly, the Rode M5 doesn’t come with a PAD or a High-Pass filter, which is actually quite common in small diaphragm condenser microphones in this price range. How does it sound? It has a slight presence boost at the 7kHz mark and a bit of a roll-offat the really low and high end. In terms of the C02, the frequency response might be a little restrictive for you if you’re using this mic with something like drums. This doesn’t mean that it’s a bad mic, just that it might work better depending on which instrument you use it with. Of course, you may not like the rubber mounts either – this is something you should keep in mind when buying. Final Verdict The Rode M5 pair excels in the mid and high frequencies in my opinion, since it doesn’t sound shrill or add any harshness or crispiness to the sound while still sounding open and airy, which is why it works great with guitars, percussion (especially overheads), strings, woodwinds, brass, pianos, and other similar instruments, as well as choirs. Let’s take a look at the M5 first. These mics come in a matched pair, so you will get two. You’ll notice that they’re long and slim, with a metal body and ceramic coating. Now, this design is meant to give better sound quality while improving durability, so you don’t have to worry about carrying these little mics with you. Of course, this design is also to make it easier to utilize your acoustic instruments, thanks to the small diaphragm that will capture the sound in greater detail.Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty In this post, I will list some of the best budget “matched pair or stereo pair” small-diaphragm condenser microphones out there which will allow you to record music at a top-notch level without spending too much.

The Behringer C-2 are very similar to the C-4 both in price and quality, they have a few differences though; If you don’t care too much about the self-noise level, which isn’t really that high and you will probably never even notice it, then the Neewer NW-410 would be my top recommendation of microphones, along with the LyxPro SDPC-2, simply because you can’t beat the sound quality and extras you get for that price. If you want a small diaphragm condenser microphone that has a lot of added features such as a High-Pass Filter set at 150Hz and a -20dB PAD, while also coming in a decent aluminum storage box, then the MXL 606 might be the one for you. However, in this list, you will find some which are more affordable and come with different capsules, which makes them a lot more versatile. It all comes down to your needs.

What I’m trying to say is that you’d be better off using a dynamic (moving-coil) microphone like the AKG P5S if you were working in these conditions and wanted to record anything other than percussive instruments. I do think, however, that the Rode M5’s have a very slight advantage as far as the low-end goes, since to my ears it sounds a little clearer, but that’s about it! My RecommendationIt’s because I was looking for a pair of pencil condenser microphones to record drums with ONLY 2 microphones. The “switches” on the face of the mic aren’t really switches but rather indents that cannot be changed unless a sharp object is inserted into the holes where the “switches” should be. With so many options to choose from, I know it’s going to be hard to decide on a single set of microphones.

The frequency range of 40Hz-20kHz is quite acceptable, and the SPL, though, is very impressive at 134dB. This will make it suitable to cover a range of instruments, including percussion. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. With their mics being made in China, this allows them to keep their prices competitive. The Samson CO2 is an interesting item from their product range, so what is it all about? Samson C02 – Overview They are also superb for piano and other acoustic instruments, as I’ve already mentioned. Something Else? The sound on the M5 is perfect for quieter instruments or large groups of people. You can use this mic to record vocals without a problem, and it works well with other low frequencies as well, including your drum kit and different loud sounds. If you’re looking for an alternative, the Samson C02 is very similar to the Behringer C-2. Although you do get a pair of mics along with two mic stands and XLR cables, they are almost double the price, don’t feature a hardshell case, and, most importantly, they won’t provide you with the audio quality that the C-2 will. Conclusion If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered It is going to be better at working with sounds that don’t require too much natural low end. Therefore, it’s one of the best microphones for acoustic instruments and percussion. The self-noise can be on the high side, so getting the mic in the best position and close to the instrument will make a difference. Where are they best used for? I’m going to start off this list with the pair that I consider to be the best ones and then move on from there. Rode M5 Best-sounding Matched Pair! Rode M5
